A quiet week in Quito
From Maya

The rains came back this week, which means the jacarandas in the plaza below the apartment are dropping their petals all at once. I keep finding them stuck to my boots. The clinic has been steady — mostly follow-ups, a few new families from the valley — and slow enough that I had time on Thursday to walk the long way home.
I'm cooking more. There's a woman at the Saturday market who sells the best aji I've ever had, and she's started waving me over before I even get to her stall. Small things, but they're starting to feel like a life here. Thank you for the notes last month — I read them on the bus and they kept me company.
